Absolutely recommend Top Dog for any service provided. Originally, what was meant to be about a week of boarding turned into a week’s intro course to the foundation of e collar training for our pup Brutus. Within this short time they had with Brutus, they laid the foundations for my wife and I to continue to build on. Not only did they send daily photo and video updates which reassured us he was getting the attention and training needed, but it also provided us a sense of reassurance he was left in very good hands. Now, training the dog is only half the battle so when we returned home they still had to train the trainer (my wife and I) on the proper uses and techniques of handling the e collar which was done effectively and efficiently. I’m absolutely over the moon about how responsive and professional this company is. We can not say enough good things about TOP Dog Training. We sent our 1 1/2 year old lab for basic obedience for 3 weeks and they updated us with pictures and detailed videos every step of the way. Ryan and Breanna are very professional and I would recommend them out to anyone! They left us with detailed plans and even access to their own app with videos for more information.

I cannot recommend these trainers enough. I have two hunting dogs ages 5 & 8, both great at their jobs, but I've never put real work into obedience training. For a while, I had the mindset that they were too old and set in their ways to truly learn the skills I wish they knew. I came across TOP Dog and enrolled in their 6 week program to see if it was something we could benefit from.
All I can say is WOW. Every single lesson we did, I was just amazed at the progress we made. Throughout the entire process, Breanna did an amazing job explaining their behavior and patterns, as well as the methods she used to work through them. Something else that I feel is so important when looking for a dog trainer is finding someone who will hold you accountable. Keeping up with training at home can be hard with a busy schedule, but their app helps guide and troubleshoot between sessions so there's no guessing when you're on your own. The 6 week program also included phone calls between private sessions which helped ensure I am on the right path and gave me a little extra support.

We have used TOP DOG twice for board and train programs, and our experience has been amazing both times. We recently took Luna for a 2-week refresher, and somehow the results were even better. We highly recommend TOP Dog Training! We recently welcomed two 12 week old Newfoundland puppies to our family. Knowing that our girls would grow to be very large dogs, it was important that they be obedient and well behaved. We had the “love” part down but we needed guidance for training and communication.
Ryan and Breanna bring a wealth of knowledge, professionalism, and commitment to dog training. They utilize evidenced based science in their approach and help owners to understand and apply the rationale for each training scenario. Our dogs’ personalities are quite different and they taught us how to adapt our approach to specific behavioral issues.
We had private, in home sessions which were invaluable. In addition, we had weekly progress calls, homework, weekly group calls, and weekly group classes. TOP Dog has an App we can access to review what we learned in our individual sessions as well as content from the group calls. And because their support is ongoing, we know that we can call or text with questions should any issues arise in the future.
This training was worth every penny and we are so grateful for Ryan and Breanna’s dedication and expertise. And the dogs love them!
Ryan at Top Dog Training has been fantastic to work with. He is incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and clearly very proficient at training (not just my dog, but me as the owner as well).
One of the biggest advantages is the convenience of training in my home, where my dog is most comfortable and where the real behaviors actually happen. Ryan provides practical skills and “homework” to work on between sessions, which makes the training feel consistent and productive.
What I appreciate most is that he explains the why behind each exercise. Understanding the reasoning helps me better understand my dog’s mindset and respond more effectively.

I’m so glad we became acquainted with TOP Dog Training. They were first class all the way. We have two Yorkies that all in all are very good, however we just couldn’t seem to make any further strides on our own. Ryan and Breanna came to our RV (we travel) and made an evaluation. It was amazing how quickly and accurate they noticed the issues we were having. They recommended a three week in home session for them. It was difficult for us to let our babies go, but they keep us in the loop the whole way via texts videos and calls, and were always there to speak with us the whole time. The big day finally arrived and we got to the graduation ceremony at their home. It was absolutely incredible what they were able to achieve with them in such a short timeframe. They are even coming out to our RV for a check in when we pass through town next in a few weeks. They are wonderful and we had no reservations about leaving our babies with them and couldn’t be happier with the results. We had our mini Aussie do the board and train program with them, and they were so transparent and communicative throughout the whole process, before, during and after her stay. I am absolutely thrilled with the results from Top Dog Training 's Board and Train program. My 1yr old mixed breed rescue puppy, Hiroshi, had significant anxiety/fear issues, and we struggled with leash pulling/reactivity/jumping. After just 31 days, Hiroshi came back well-behaved, obedient, focused, and now listens to commands consistently and calmly. The results are astounding! Communication during the training was excellent. Ryan and Breanna are very personable, professional, incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and clearly passionate about dogs. My girlfriend and I got a beautiful cane corso puppy when she was 8 weeks old. She is now a little over 12 weeks and knowing she is a working breed we wanted to be proactive with training and control. After doing a lot of research, we decided to go with TOP dog training nc - TRUST, OBEY, PERFORM. With her being a cane corso we did not want to do any sort of boarding program right away so she can continue building her bond with US and learns we are the ones in charge. I reached out to Ryan over the phone to discuss our current situation/training plan and he was not only excited and compassionate but also very empathetic. He listened, understood, and actually talked to me about my pup (wasn’t trying to sell an idea or his company). We then had our FREE in home evaluation on Ms. Nala, during his evaluation he was already giving us tips and tricks that actually worked! Today we finished our first in home session, Ryan and Breanna were beyond helpful! They worked with us, talked with us (not to us) and definitely knew what they were talking about. A few days before I told them what my partner and I wanted to work on, they came up with a training plan, and it went great! After her nap because ofcourse she was mentally and physically stimulated, we were able to put the training to use without the trainers and it was amazing! She went on a few walks, one being her longest ever, and living in an apartment on a weekend there were so many distractions (cars driving by, kids on scooters, other dogs) I couldn’t believe how well she was doing with us. During play time we were able to put all the other training to use, it really helped with the nipping and behavior distractions. We will 100% continue to use them and I recommend TOP dog training nc - TRUST, OBEY, PERFORM to any other dog owner who either wants to be proactive or who is curious to some of the things they may have never known even being a previous dog owner.. there’s no handbook or right way but they are definitely here to help!

We were looking for behavior training for our two year old Mini Schnauzer. We had already invested money in training videos as well as a program through Petsmart but didn’t achieve the results we were looking for. Choosing the three week in home program was a smart move for us. Although we were sad to have her away for so long Ryan and Briana kept us informed on her progress with texts and videos every couple days and we are more than pleased with the change in our dog. They include refreshers if/when needed as well as a weekly podcast called The Pawprint Academy that is very helpful. Don’t hesitate to trust TopDog Trainers with your beloved pet.

TOP dog was the best thing that could have happened to me and my Pip. I wanted to build a better and stronger relationship with my dog, and help him build more trust in me so we could both live a happier life. I couldn't have achieved this without Ryan and Breanna. They truly bring their wealth of knowledge for dog training while tailoring it to my individual needs. Every session was so informative, but I was never left without feeling confident in what I was supposed to be working on. I was really appreciative of the time that they both took understand Pip's behavior from the very first meeting. Then every session they took plenty of time to demonstrate, explain, teach and observe my own practice so that I could really get a full understanding of the purpose of each lesson.
Not only do they bring their wealth of knowledge, but they bring and utilize technology! I found this so helpful so that I could remember exactly what I was supposed to be working on each week.
Ryan and Brianna also went above and beyond to make sure that I felt they were available to me at any time. They sent videos and responded to my messages in between sessions.

We have been working with TOP Dog Training (TDT) for about 8 weeks with my 2 and 4 year old Frenchies and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. From the very first session, the trainers, Ryan and Breanna, made it clear that their approach was rooted in patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, and it worked wonders.
